Short: Fixes interlace flicker on A1200
Author: ncrawforth@geocities.com (Neil Crawforth)
Uploader: ncrawforth@geocities.com (Neil Crawforth)
Replaces: magictv_1.2.lha
Type: util/wb
Requires: AGA chipset
MagicTV will VIRTUALLY ELIMINATE interlace flicker on Workbench.
It won't darken your bright colours like other tools.
It improves the flicker better than other tools.
It's completely free.
IMPORTANT
Make sure no older versions of MagicTV are running (use Commodities Exchange to
remove them) before starting this version.
NEW FOR 1.3
Found a BIG bug that trashed the screens' colormap structures, which hold more
than just colours:
* Now works with SuperHires.
* Fixed most pointer problems (the colour change is unavoidable).
* Should work properly with HighGFX etc.
BACKGROUND
These days, the prerequisite for a good-looking Workbench is a high resolution,
1:1 screen. But what about all the A1200 owners out there who, like me, can't
afford a monitor? Do we just sit and stare at a chunky blue and grey screen? I
don't think so.
So MagicTV was born to bring the beauty of MagicWorkbench and MagicUserInterface
to the TV-owning masses. Hence the name. Also, it can be shortened to MTV,
which can only be a good thing. Right?
INSTALLATION
* Select a hires, interlaced, screenmode with up to 16 colours.
* Double-click on the MagicTV icon.
* Run the Prefs program if you use 16 colours.
* Drag MagicTV to your WBStartup drawer.
LIMITATIONS
* MagicTV won't work with more than 16 colours (for now).
* It only works under the AGA chipset.
* Changes pointer colours (unavoidable).
* Reacts badly for a second to palette changes (unavoidable).
* Uses more CPU time than it needs.
* Problems reported with '060 cards.
TO DO
* Reduce CPU usage.
* Improve compatibility with "exotic" systems.
* Improve speed of palette adjustments.
* Improve 16-colour patching, and add 32 & 64-colour patching.
E-mail me if MagicTV does not work on your system, or to register to get info on
updates or updates via e-mail.
